The Metropolitan Cooperative Library System is the latest to join
BusinessDecision's growing list of customers
Pasadena, CA — July 31, 2006 —
CIVIC Technologies, Inc. (CIVIC), the nation's leading provider of geographic information systems (GIS) for public libraries, announced today that significant new
demographic data has been added to its BusinessDecision (www.businessdecision.info) reporting and mapping service, specifically:
- 2006 demographic data estimates
- 2011 five-year projections
- New data sources
- Consumer Expenditure Database & Community Tapestry Market Segmentation system
updates
Statistics such as 2005 post-hurricane population findings, 2006/2011 demographic trends
revealing hot growth areas, changes in the housing market and consumer spending, and
2006/2011 geographic restructuring are just some of the more notable updates that customers can
easily access and download in the host of reports and maps that come with BusinessDecision.
With this data release, public libraries will actively contribute to the economic vitality of their
communities by offering local businesses the most accurate and current consumer market,
segmentation, and demographic information available on the market today.
"These demographic data updates are very important to library business patrons as Census 2000
data fades. The growing number and diverse group of public libraries subscribing to
BusinessDecision clearly demonstrates that small and medium sized businesses rely on their
local library as the trusted intermediary to access timely, accurate, and relevant information," said
Marc Futterman, CIVIC President & CEO. "This is why we're pleased to announce that the
Metropolitan Cooperative Library System (MCLS) in Southern California is one of our newest
customers and the first library cooperative to subscribe to BusinessDecision. MCLS second level
reference staff will support 44 independent city and special district public library members to help
grow their local business enterprises with this comprehensive, new market data."
According to Laurel Patric, MCLS Interim Executive Director, "BusinessDecision answers
questions quickly, effectively, and accurately. We chose BusinessDecision because of its unique
offering in the public library database market — consumer market, segmentation, and
demographic data that is geographically customized to answer the questions of each end user
business patron. The annual data updates mean that we are always providing our business
patrons with relevant and accurate data."
